Traffic Lane Cleaner - An Ounce of Prevention
Traffic lanes are those areas of carpet where people walk or work most of the time. The constant traffic will eventually not only transfer dirt and grease to a narrow lane in the carpet, it will also begin to damage the carpet fibers themselves.
While professional carpet lane cleaners can remove the stains and the soil, it can do nothing to restore the shine that is manufactured into the fiber. This difference in light reflection off of the fibers can cause the lane to look dirty immediately after cleaning.
There are steps that you can recommend to your clients that will help avoid the effect of high traffic lanes. First of all, use door mats at the entrances, and encourage family or employees to use them. Next, regularly change the arrangement of the furniture to move the traffic lanes.
Keep the floors clean and immediately treat spots and spills. Finally, encourage them to have the carpets professionally cleaned at least once a year. This will keep the dirt and oils from damaging the carpet fibers.

Even when the proper steps are taken to help prevent traffic lane discoloration, it is always a good idea to treat the affected areas with traffic lane cleaner. This will remove the ground-in dirt and oils that can cause the carpet fibers to lose their "new" shine.
